JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Grants and Foundations is responsible for developing and writing persuasive grant proposals to federal, state, and municipal funding sources, foundations, and other grant-making organizations. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Development and Marketing, the Director will write, assemble, and submit grant requests; establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with funders; conduct prospect research; and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Assess requests for proposals (RFPs), gather and format information, including objectives, implementation, methods, timetables, staffing, standards of performance, and evaluation, and work with the Finance Department to ensure budget completion. Write drafts and prepare executive summaries, presentations, and final submissions.Β
- Establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with funders.
- Attend bidders conferences and technical assistance workshops as necessary.
- Manage grant submission deadlines and renewals with the Senior Vice President of Development and Marketing and critical program and Finance staff.Β Β
- Manage reporting requirements to ensure compliance.
- Track status and metrics to measure performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing clearly and persuasively.
- Understanding of best practices in grant writing.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Poise, maturity, and the ability to interact with staff members at all levels of the organization.
- Discretion, judgment, interpersonal skills, and the resourcefulness to effectively navigate obstacles in pursuing critical content.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and donor management software (Bloomerang, Instrumentl).
Required Licenses or Experience- Bachelor's degree in English or the Humanities with 3-5 years of successful grant writing experience.
- Experience in preparation and submission of state and federal grants.Β
- Background in behavioral health preferred.
- Valid driver's license in the state of residence.
