Overview of Role:

Summit Therapeutics is seeking a Director of Patient Engagement and Advocacy to join our mission of introducing Ivonescimab, a novel and unique immunotherapy with the potential to help patients suffering from life-threatening cancers. This position reports to the Executive Director, Medical Affairs and will support preparations for bringing Ivo to the US and EU markets and recruitment to clinical trials in multiple oncologic indications. The role involves developing and implementing strategies to enhance patient engagement and advocacy efforts, building strong relationships with patient communities, advocacy groups, and internal stakeholders to ensure that patients are aware of Summit and its offering and that their voices are integrated into the SummitοΏ½s decision-making processes and product development.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be adept at collaborating with external stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan, and execute the pre-, peri-, and post-launch patient engagement and advocacy strategy
  • Assess patient engagement needs develop, and execute programs internally or through external vendors, to address those needs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including clinical development, clinical operations, medical affairs, market access, and commercial, to integrate relevant patient engagement measures into clinical studies and commercialization plans
  • Engage effectively with patient groups, clinical experts, and payers to evaluate and address knowledge gaps regarding ivonescimab and its potential uses, understand the burden of diseases potentially treated by ivonescimab, and identify opportunities for collaboration on patient education and involvement in ivonescimab clinical studies.
  • Lead the development of data dissemination plans and communicate complex clinical scientific content, including clinical trials result, in a manner suitable for patients
  • Stay updated with advancements in patient engagement methodologies and best practices, particularly in solid tumors related oncology
  • All other duties as assigned

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • BachelorοΏ½s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, social work, nursing, pharmacy); Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in patient advocacy, engagement, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful patient engagement strategies
  • In-depth understanding of the healthcare and pharmaceutical landscape, including regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Domestic and international travel required, expected to be 10-20% of the time and as needed
  • Proficient user of the standard MS Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel); experience with electronic document management systems and document review tools is desirable.

The pay range for this role is $220,000-$245,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable variable compensation.
