Job Description Summary
Summary of Position: The Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability provides supportive services, programs, and activities that enhance our students’ academic and personal development. This graduate assistant position will serve as a student liaison, assisting students with concerns and issues including, but not limited to, University Excused Absences, the academic grade appeal process, and general complaints. The role involves answering general questions and helping students obtain the appropriate resources. Position Duties Reception Desk Duties: Assist in staffing the reception desk, greeting students, answering the phone, and maintaining the filing system. Student Support: Assist with triaging student needs and connecting them with necessary resources. Absence Management: Assist with approving or denying University Excused Absences. Presentations and Activities: Help provide presentations and organize activities. Collaboration: Work with the Director of Student Advocacy to enhance the experience for both undergraduate and graduate students. Additional Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned. Conditions of Employment Complete 20 hours of work per week. Maintain a minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 3.0. The term of appointment is for the 2025 Spring Semester. Re-appointment is based on performance and is renewable upon evaluation, and consent of the Director of Student Advocacy. Assistantship will begin January 6, 2025 and run through May 16, 2025. Outside employment must be approved by the Director of Student Advocacy. Approval will be based on position and academic performance; outside employment cannot interfere with GA responsibilities. Required Qualifications Completion of bachelor’s degree by the first day of employment Enroll (or seeking admittance) in a Marshall University graduate program Maintain a 3.0 GPA , if granted the role.
