Responsible for planning, researching, developing, and submitting grants and facilitating the contracting process for research studies. Serves as the liaison with senior management, advocacy programs and other areas to link and prioritize funding opportunities for Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. Facilitates and conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration and sponsor contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with MLH policies, legal requirements, and sponsor specifications. Works in a collaborative environment across different disciplines focused on pediatric research that will contribute to the advancement of research. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in The Methodist Mission, Vision and Values.

A Brief Overview

What you will do

  • Consults and collaborates with investigators and administrators at LBCH and UTHSC.
  • Implements standard procedures for proposal and contract preparation and acquisition.
  • Perform pre-award activities including assisting investigators in the development, preparation, and submission of grant and contract proposals.
  • Ensures that all proposals and applications meet agency, MLH and university guidelines and published time tables and deadlines.
  • Actively plans, organizes, and manages projects and timelines.

Experience Qualifications

  • 3-5 years Researching, managing, and writing grants for a non-profit agency, university, or hospital

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of federal rules and regulations relating to research grant and/or contract activity.
  • Knowledge of preparing grant proposals for federal, state, local governments, public and private agencies and foundations.
  • Possesses working knowledge of Adobe Professional, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous knowledge or experience with sponsored projects and technologies related to grants and contracts management.
  • Demonstrates initiative and motivation.
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple assignments with challenging timelines while maintaining high standards.
  • Demonstrated capacity to frame complex situations and present options.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance to people with a wide range of cultural backgrounds, training and experience.
  • Ability to maintain strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations.

Supervision Provided by this Position

  • There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.

Physical Demands

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
