General Purpose
Under the supervision of the President/CEO, the Director of Advocacy and Support coordinates, manages, and supports the overall needs of the individuals supported throughout the agency. This position coordinates and conducts consumer-related administrative reviews as needed and is the main point of contact for all concerns related to those supported. This position is responsible for overseeing theΒ management of admissions and discharges in vocational and residential settings.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to facilities supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Adhere to and implement Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to facilities supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Coordinate and conduct thorough reviews of consumer-related incidents, including abuse, neglect, exploitation, standard-of-care allegations, critical incidents, and any cases involving a consumer's death.
- Maintains abuse/neglect, critical incidents, deaths, and consumer concern logs in the incident management system.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting to relevant stakeholders, upholding transparency and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Act as the main point of contact for addressing any consumer-related concerns, advocating on behalf of supported individuals and ensuring that issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner.
- Oversees the admissions and discharges for vocational and residential programs, collaborating closely with department leads to ensure a smooth transition for all consumers.
- Leads the βPeopleβs Choiceβ Meetings and manages related follow-ups.
- Oversees the admission staff.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for staff to raise awareness and prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- Educate staff on critical incident protocols and reporting requirements to ensure consistent adherence to safety and support standards.
- Lead abuse prevention initiatives and act as the Abuse Prevention Coordinator, implementing proactive measures to mitigate risks and fostering a culture of safety and respect.
- Chairs the Mortality Review Committee and manages follow-ups as needed.
- Oversee the design, distribution, and analysis of satisfaction surveys to gain valuable insights into consumer needs and experiences. Use survey data to improve services and advocate for necessary changes.
- Analyze data and trends for injury/abuse patterns.
- Serve as a liaison with outside agencies concerning abuse and advocacy.
- Assists as necessary to self-advocates.
- Works with the Enabling Technology team to communicate needs related to technology resources to enhance the lives of those supported.
- Work with internal and external sources relating to individual funding needs and changes
- Assist with company policy implementation and revision as necessary. Β
- Assist with potential solutions to and implementation of solutions to any compliance issues or concerns.
- Assist with and participate in training of staff including but not limited to; new hire orientation and ongoing training for program staff, management, and Directors.
- Acts as a resource for program staff, management, and directors.
- Assists with licensing for operating new facilities.
- Review consumer DOL compliance.Β
- Participates on the human rights committee, risk management committee, and other committees as needed.
- Acts as the Consumer Advocate for all supported individuals, ensuring that advocacy services are consistently available, accessible, and effective for those we support.
- Supervises the Coordinator of Operational Development and oversees related responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Typical Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.Β Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Normal range of hearing and vision.

Working Conditions:
Works in a typical office setting. Often called upon to work hours in excess of 40 hours in a given work week in order to meet deadlines. but may be asked to work in activity centers, company facilities, and/or medical facilities.Β This position requires a high level of responsibility and accountability.
Hazards/Potential Hazards:
Aerosolized medication, aggression/violence, biological/infectious hazards, electrical, ergonomic hazards (i.e. patient handling, lifting), pushing/pulling, hazardous drugs, latex allergy, needle punctures, trip hazards, and wet floor.
