Description

The Director of Grants is responsible for grant writing activities; foundation prospecting writing and development, liaison to programs and branches; case statement development and writing; and administrative compliance. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County serves youth between the ages of 6-18 years in Tarrant County communities. The Advancement Department supports the organization's mission through raising funds, marketing, and donor relations.Β 


Functions and Responsibilities:Β 


Create and Manage Grant Writing Activities:

  • Manage the grant development process from start to finish for both private foundation and government RFP opportunities; draft compelling and dynamic letters of intent and full proposals including, but not limited to, assembling all materials required for submission, developing budgets and timelines, coordinating site visits, and producing interim and final reports for funders
  • Complete contracting, including, but not limited to, Letters of Agreement, Memorandums of Understanding, and government grant contracts
  • Maintain an accurate and regularly updated grant calendar system to track application deadlines, submissions, interim and final report dates, and all other applicable information
  • Regularly update the donor database system with foundation information and actions, including uploading grant award letters and communication

Foundation Prospect Research, Proposal Writing and Development:

  • Develop and oversee foundation prospecting, including identifying and researching potential funding sources by matching BGCGTC’s goals and priorities with grant opportunities
  • Accountable for implementing strategy and plan to secure funds

Liaison to Programs and Branches:

  • Collaborate with program and branch leadership to prioritize grant opportunities for new and existing programs and initiatives across all programmatic work and locations
  • Work cross-departmentally to ensure all programmatic and location-specific grant deliverables are met within the grant period
  • Partner with program and branch leadership to develop funding requests and reports, accurately communicating program descriptions, goals, and outcomes as pertains to each grant opportunity
  • Compile and maintain program performance data (i.e. outcomes and measurements)

Research, Case Statement Development, and General Writing:

  • Translate BGCGTC’s internal needs, strategy, and vision into reports and other cultivation materials for direct use with prospective funders. Serve as the primary writer for complex proposals and collect content and data from other departments, as needed
  • Collaborating with program leadership, prepare and maintain budget templates for each BGCGTC program
  • Accountable for general writing for Advancement and CEO

Β Administrative Compliance:

  • Complete all required reports and administrative duties on timeΒ 
  • Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting
  • Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes and controls
  • Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
  • Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively
Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required Β or equivalent professional experience
  • Fundraising or sales experience
  • Grant writing and Grant reporting experience

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

  • Ability to work regular business hours; including some evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Ability to persuade or influence others effectively
  • Ability to prioritize effectivelyΒ 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and knowledgeably in both the written and spoken word. Β Must have sound knowledge of English composition, spelling, business correspondence, and writing skills.

  • Knowledgeable of fundraising techniques and strategies
  • Must be able to pass any required background screens and drug screens at any time
  • Must have satisfactory driving record, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with donor database
  • Knowledge of local community
  • Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage

Salary and Benefits:

  • Starting pay: $65,000 yearly
  • Benefits: Eligible for health, vision and dental coverage; 401(K) plan and flexible spending accounts; life insurance; and short and long-term disability. Paid Time off (PTO) and company paid holidays.
