JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Grants and Special Events builds awareness of the YMCA's charitable mission through strategic financial development initiatives. This role is responsible for coordinating high-profile events, identifying grant opportunities, implementing marketing strategies, and developing proposals aligned with the YMCA’s priorities. Additionally, the director oversees administrative functions for the financial development department and supports donor relations to advance the YMCA’s fundraising goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Financial Development Support
    • Assist in the planning and implementation of all association fundraising efforts to support the YMCA’s charitable mission.
    • Implement marketing materials to support the annual campaign, and capital and endowment campaigns.
    • Responsible for stewarding donor relationships, securing gifts, and managing donor recognitions.

  1. Event Coordination
    • Lead the planning and execution of the Y’s fundraising events, including timelines, print materials, banquet logistics, and attendance.
    • Oversee volunteer recruitment and coordination for key events, including the YMCA Turkey Trot.
    • Assist with association-level special event planning, delivery, and logistics.

  1. Grant Development
    • Research and identify potential foundation and corporate funding opportunities aligned with the YMCA’s strategic goals.
    • Prepare and submit grant proposals, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.

  1. Technology and Platform Management
    • Manage the YMCA’s online donation platform, including campaign and event setup, and donation processing. Β Provide staff training.
    • Serve as administrator with grant platforms, produce reports, and manage record-keeping.

  1. Administrative and Clerical Support
    • Provide administrative assistance to the financial development department, ensuring efficient operations.

  1. Additional Duties
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.

Β QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Β 

  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Proven expertise in financial development, grant writing and special events.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
    • Able to lead and coordinate a project/special event.
    • Comfortable with public speaking. Able to clearly communicate the Y’s charitable mission.
