Position Title: Disability Inclusion FacilitatorΒ 


Department/Location: EmploymentΒ 


Position Type: Full-Time: grant funded for 12 months.Β 

Shift/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.Β 

This is a hybrid position with a mix of work to be completed at home and at the employer partner site. Β

SUMMARY: (Summary description of the primary duties and objectives of the position.)Β 

Inclusive Pathways is a hiring initiative in which Anixter Center assists employer partners who are making concentrated efforts in hiring people with disabilities to join their workforce. Additionally, Anixter Center provides training that educates employer partners on best practices pertaining to disability in the workplace and consults on disability forward thinking and growth opportunities. Employer partners work with the Disability Inclusion Facilitator and the Inclusive Pathways Manager to help meet their specific organization’s goals.Β

The Disability Inclusion Facilitator is a disability specialist whose primary focus is to maintain a process of supporting Inclusive Pathways candidates (job seekers) from referral to placement which includes candidate recruitment, client intake at Anixter, identification of open positions, matching candidates to positions based on experience and interest, advocating for applicants with recruiter and hiring managers, onboarding support, and conducting ongoing check ins throughout the new employee's training and orientation.Β

The Disability Inclusion Facilitator has working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and a proven track record in creating strategic partnerships that advances employment Β 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Individual duties, assignments, and responsibilities required of the position.)Β 

  • Meet recruitment, hiring, training and retention goals for people with disabilities including other federally protected classes (e.g., Veterans, formerly incarcerated individuals, etc.) by advising on disability-hiring and retention best practices.
  • Responsible for a minimum of 1.5 job starts on average per month.Β 
  • Support the efforts of the employer’s Disability Resource Group, promoting joint initiatives to create and improve access to opportunities for participation in all aspects of employment.
  • Supports mutually beneficial partnerships with disability-focused and other community organizations to build a pipeline of referrals to Inclusive Pathways (15-20% of time spent).
  • Provide in-person, onsite and virtual job retention support to both new hires and hiring managers during the first 90 days of onboarding and employment (70-80% of time spent).
  • Present, promote and market programs to individuals, groups, community organizations and service providers. Co-present training associated with disability inclusion within the workplace (10-15%).
  • Actively participate in relevant Anixter and site meetings and committees.

REQUIREMENTS (Competencies, skills, abilities, experience, education necessary.)Β 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or professional work equivalent.
  • Maintain CPR, First Aid, NCI, mandated Reporter, HIPAA, etc. trainings and participate in any other trainings deemed mandatory or relevant by the agency and/or employer partner’s system.Β 
  • Submit to background and medical checks by hiring agency and employer partner systems as required for employment in their setting.

Nonessential Skills and Experience:Β 

  • Knowledge / experience in fields of Special Education and/or Justice System preferred butΒ not .
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred, but not required
  • Foreign language preferred, but not required
  • Ability to promote and adhere to company values.
  • A commitment to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment.
  • Disability awareness background, including familiarity with the ADA, reasonable accommodation process, and vocational rehabilitation best practices.
  • Experience working in vocational rehabilitation or service delivery to people with disabilities.
