The Research Technician III supports the research efforts of Dr. Virginia Steen and Dr. Megan Lockwood and will act as a liaison between study patients and regulatory affairs on behalf of Dr. Steen and Dr. Lockwood. The candidate should work independently to carry out all administrative and clinical needs for Dr. Steen and Dr. Lockwood, including organization of new study initiations, subject recruitment, subject testing/follow-up, and data entry. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and provide administrative support for studies.

  • Assist in the recruitment and screening of study participants.

  • Provide and facilitate appropriate communication, written and verbal, with all study participants sponsors and physicians.

  • Maintain appropriate study documentation as an entry- level professional.

  • Apply general professional-level knowledge and principals of function to solve problems requiring the identification and analysis of non-routine factors.

  • Use independent judgment and discretion to determine or recommend best course of action, receiving guidance or expertise from supervisor or higher-level staff.


Work Interactions
This position will report to the principal investigator, Virginia Steen, and Megan Lockwood and fall under the Division of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy. The candidate will be required to participate in patient relations, scheduling, management of clinical trials including drug supplies and patient follow-up. The candidate will oversee multiple studies, and will have to work closely with various sponsor monitors and research associates to ensure proper data collection/compliance with regulations. Additionally, the candidate will interact with Rheumatology faculty and staff, Department of Medicine, CRU and other administrative staff (i.e., radiology technicians, pulmonary technicians).

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • 1 to 3 years of related experience (research/medical/clinical)

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with investigators, sponsors, monitors and patients

  • Ability to support interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal clinical and resource outcomes

  • Self-directed with attention to detail and computer proficiency

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
