Position Summary:

This position provides hospital based social work consultation to children who are suspected victims of child abuse and neglect as a member of Children’s Child Advocacy and Protective Services (CAPS) program. Encourages and promotes healthy adjustment by providing case consultation and system advocacy services within a multi-disciplinary team including medical, child welfare, and law enforcement professionals. Recommends referrals to community agencies and programs and acts as a liaison with community resources and agencies.Β 

Position Requirements:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) and Wisconsin Advanced Practice Social Work (APSW) certification/licensure required.
  • Minimum of one year of social work or related field experience. Hospital experience preferred.
  • Crisis intervention and basic counseling skills.
  • Experience with the social, psychological and economic issues of children/families
  • Knowledge of structure of the child welfare and law enforcement systems, guardianship process and community pediatric resources preferred.
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary team process.
  • Computer skills and the ability to learn the CHHS database and electronic medical records, email and pager system.
  • Ability to function independently, prioritize and manage time
  • The hours for this position are 2:00pm to 10:00pm in order to collaborate with the first shift social worker and to support later hours​
